Popis
Vangelis was a prolific composer for many decades, whose work ranges from advertising music and film scores to elaborate symphonic-style compositions and Jon and Vangelis, his duo with Jon Anderson, the lead singer of the prog rock group Yes. Throughout his career, Vangelis focused on the celestial. When he gave a rare interview, his thoughts often went quickly to deeper things. "It's very easy to get unhinged and become a product," he told SPIN Magazine in 1985. "But music is so much more than entertainment, believe me. It's an important human possession." He told VIMAgazino in 2016: "Music is a divine thing. It's a tremendous force that shapes the world." Vangelis (29.3.1943 - 17.5.2022) was a Greek musician, composer and producer of electronic, progressive, ambient and classical orchestral music. He composed the Oscar-winning score for "Chariots of Fire" (1981) as well as for the films "Blade Runner" (1982), "Missing" (1982), "Antarctica" (1983), "The Bounty" (1984), "1492: Conquest of Paradise" (1992) and "Alexander" (2004) and for the PBS documentary series "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage" by Carl Sagan. Vangelis began writing music at the age of 4 and gave his first live concert at the age of 6. He began his career as a member of The Forminx. In the sixties he was a founding member of Aphrodite's Child together with Demis Roussos and Lucas Sideras. In the early eighties, he also enjoyed success as part of Jon & Vangelis. "The Best Of Vangelis" from 1993 is an absolute classic. It contains Vangelis classics such as "Alpha", "To The Unknown Man", "Pulstar (Audio)", "Spiral" and "So Long Ago, So Clear" with Jon Anderson from Yes. Now available for the first time on vinyl, as a limited edition 2LP set on white vinyl.
