Both "Pangaea" and its predecessor "Agharta" were recorded on February 1, 1975, in Osaka, Japan at Festival Hall. The "Agharta" concert took place during an afternoon matinee, while "Pangaea" was recorded in the evening. The band: Sonny Fortune, saxophone, Pete Cosey (who also played synthesizer) and Reggie Lucas on guitars, Michael Henderson on bass, Al Foster on drums, James "Mtume" Foreman percussion and Miles Davis on trumpet and organ. Presented on this are just two stunning epic tracks that last almost 2 hours, "Zimbabwe" and "Gondwana" offer the listener a very unique and primitive form of "Afro Futurism", a kind of Jazz-Funk that only a Miles Davis can deliver.
