The "Somewhere Back In Time World Tour" of the heavy metal legend Iron Maiden, which took place in 3 phases from February 2008 to the beginning of April 2009 on the most diverse stages of this planet, has only just become history, but has already gone down in the annals of rock music - as the most demanding, most adventurous, most unusual concert tour of a rock band to date. Take, for example, the first phase of February and March 2008: the band covered around 80,000 kilometers in 45 days, traveled around the globe about twice, and played 23 concerts in stadiums and arenas in Asia, Australia, North, Central and South America. This absolute mammoth program could actually only be managed because Iron Maiden now owns its own aircraft, a Boeing 757 modified for these purposes, e.g. 12 tons of stage equipment - the "Ed Force One"! At the controls: singer Bruce Dickinson himself! The man has not only the metal tube par excellence, he is also a trained pilot, flies commercial aircraft, is in his time next to Iron Maiden fully qualified and active flight captain of the "Astraeus Airlines" based in England. Said first part of this monumental tour was captured on film by a team led by award-winning documentary filmmakers Sam Dunn and Scot McFaden of "Bangers Productions" (they also made "Metal, A Headbanger's Journey" or "qGlobal Metal"). The result is a fascinating, honest and revealing portrait of one of the most successful rock bands of all time, the first real documentary about this formation, of course with corresponding spectacular live footage. It introduces the viewer to the innermost circles of the Iron Maiden family, provides never-before-seen insights, shows the band's travel hardships and tumultuous fans everywhere, as well as individual leisure activities or even a visit to a bar or two - in fact, the film gives an unobstructed look behind the scenes, an actual "Access All Areas". Even before the big public premiere, "Flight 666", as the title suggests, was shown at the renowned "SXSW Film Festival", where it won the award for best music documentary.
