Popis
This month, for many music lovers and fans of Sarah Willis, a wish cherished since the summer of 2020 comes true: after the phenomenal success of the first Mozart y Mambo album on ALPHA CLASSICS, the renowned British hornist returned to Cuba not only to record two more Mozart horn concertos (the Horn Concertos no. 1 K. 412 and No. 2 K. 417), but also to create a groundbreaking original work that will undoubtedly have a special place in Cuban music history. With Mozart y Mambo - Cuban Dances, Sarah Willis commissioned the first-ever Cuban horn concerto and asked six young, talented Cuban composers to each write an original dance for solo horn, strings and percussion inspired by the most famous dance rhythms from different regions of Cuba. Together with her beloved Havana Lyceum Orchestra, conducted by José Antonio Méndez Padrón, the popular hornist takes us on a musical road trip across the country apparently so abundantly blessed with music and rhythm in this spectacularly stirring presentation of the roots and traditions of Cuban music as well as Cuban dance. Cuban Dances is Cuban music in its purest form, the likes of which you've never heard before, and a great challenge for the horn player, not only playing-wise, but also physically - "if you can't dance it, you can't play it" she was once told. Needless to say, Sarah Willis ends up being able to do both! The album Mozart y Mambo - Cuban Dances is full of musical magic, rhythmic energy and heartfelt passion, and Sarah's love for Cuban music is not only palpable in every beat, but also contagious!
