Anton Jaro: “L´Audition Contrebasse is a reminiscence of an audition for the world-famous French Ensemble intercontemporain. With my friend bassist František Výrostko (1980), we decided to take part in the audition for a double bass player in this ensemble. Despite the experience with contemporary music at home festivals, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The audition took place on May 25.-26. May 2012. I had about four months to practice the repertoire of solo compositions, which all (except for Bach's Gigue from the 2nd cello suite) are included in this collection. Orchestral parts related to the repertoire of this extraordinary ensemble were also included. The first time I opened the notes, a new world that I had never known before was revealed to me. Being a lover of contemporary music, I started to practice, study and decipher the musical "crossword" with great enthusiasm. The excellent Nicolas Crosse (1979) won the audition. I studied his interpretation of L. Berio via the Internet and compared my notes to his audiovisual record. After the audition, I decided to introduce some pieces also in Slovakia.
