Unreleased live recording from 1966!
A jazz discovery of weight: "Forces of Nature: Live at Slugs'" is a previously unreleased, energetic live recording of the two jazz legends McCoy Tyner and Joe Henderson at the head of a joint quartet with bassist Henry Grimes and drummer Jack DeJohnette, recorded in 1966 in the former New York jazz sanctuary Slugs' Saloon.
The concert was recorded by sound engineer Orville O'Brien, who recorded famous jazz albums of the 1960s such as Alice Coltrane's "Journey to Satchidananda", Freddie Hubbard's "The Night of the Cookers" and Charles Tolliver's "Music Inc.". The tape has been in Jack DeJohnette's personal archive since 1966 and sees the light of day here for the very first time.
CD and LP contain an extensive booklet with rare photos by Francis Wolff, Raymond Ross and Robert Polillo, plus liner notes by author and critic Nate Chinen and interviews with and statements by Jason Moran, Joe Lovano, Joshua Redman, Christian McBride, Nasheet Waits and Terri Lyne Carrington.
