Ödön Racz's latest album "My Double Bass" delights with the strengths and versatility of the instrument and takes the listener on a musical journey from Italy to Latin America and back again. The starting point of the journey is the "Gran Duo concertante" by the Italian contrabassist and composer Giovanni Bottesini. Racz will be accompanied by Noah Bendix-Balgley, concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Rácz has a close working relationship with Bendix-Balgley; both musicians got to know each other in the Philharmonix ensemble. The journey continues with "Le Grand Tango" by the Argentinean founder of Tango Nuevo, Astor Piazzolla. A final stop on the journey is the "Divertimento concertante" by the legendary film composer Nino Rota, who was awarded an Oscar in 1975. Rácz will be accompanied by the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra conducted by Speranza Scappucci; the Rome-born maestro is General Music Director of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, Belgium.
