Slowthai from Northhampton is considered one of the most exciting representatives of the British grime genre. He has been critically acclaimed since his 2019 debut album Nothing Great About Britain, Slowthai is a "keen observer, charismatic storyteller, brutally honest & funny at the same time". His 2nd album Tyron celebrated #1 album entry in UK, with feature guests such as James Blake, A$AP Rocky, Mount Kimbie, Mura Masa etc. Slowthai now returns with a new album project: his third album "UGLY" (U Gotta Love Yourself) may show a side of him that people have never heard before, but Slowthai himself sees it as the most complete picture yet. "This album is totally me - about how I feel and what I want to be ... it's everything I'm going for." "UGLY" is about reconnecting with basic principles. Dipping into the punk genre, with as much singing as rapping, is both a striking departure for Slowthai and a return to his roots. As a teenager in Northampton, he loved emotionally intense rock music, particularly by Nirvana, Radiohead and Daniel Johnston, and wanted to join a band, but that's difficult when you don't play an instrument. Now he finally had the opportunity to reflect, find a band etc - that's how "UGLY" came about.
