The Tubicinatores gedanenses (trumpeters from Gdansk) and their "associated strings" (Arcus adiuncti) take us right into the intellectual heart of the Viennese imperial court with a program that describes in an extraordinarily festive way how splendid things were in the Danube metropolis 300 years ago. An almost gigantic chapel, for which no fewer than six court composers wrote their music, plus successive Majesties Joseph I and Charles VI, who themselves were creatively active in the field of musical art and produced remarkable things in the process: this was a scene that not only sent out its artistic signals to the world, but also its unmistakable political signals - which is why the widely audible instruments were only available to the highest: the virtuoso art of the trumpets and timpani was simply not for subjects ...
