It wasn't until early 2021 that Ringo Starr released his EP "Zoom In." Now the British musician, songwriter and Beatles drummer is back again. "Change The World" is the name of his new EP.
"I've always said that I only want to release EPs, and this is the next one," Starr said.
He recorded four songs for it during the lockdown at his home studio, Roccabella West. For the songwriting, the 81-year-old got support from some well-known colleagues
The lead single, "Let's Change The World," was written by Toto singers Joseph Williams and Steve Lukather. They also feature on the song. "Just That Way" was penned by Ringo and Bruce Sugar, and "Coming Undone" was written by Linda Perry and Trombone Shorty. The fourth song on "Change The World" is a cover of the 1954 blues-rock classic "Rock Around The Clock," which gained widespread fame from the band Bill Haley & His Comets, among others. The latter also features Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh
In a press release, Ringo wrote of the recording, "What a blessing it's been this year to have a studio here at home and to be able to work with so many great musicians, some I've worked with before and some new friends."
The result is a small, yet versatile whole between reggae, country, pop and rock. If you want to check it out for yourself, you can easily order "Change The World" online now, as a CD and as an MC.
After the breakup of the Beatles in 1970, Ringo Starr launched his solo career and released several successful singles. He enjoyed both commercial and critical success with his 1973 album "Ringo", which reached the top ten in both the UK and the US. To date, he has released 20 solo albums, the latest coming in 2019 with "What's My Name". "Change The World" is also Ringo's third EP.
