Popis
"Animals" is Pink Floyd's tenth studio album, which was originally released in January 1977. It was recorded in 1976 and early 1977 at the band's Britannia Row Studios in London and produced by the band themselves. The successful album reached #2 in the UK and #3 in the US and was recorded by band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. The Dolby Atmos mix goes beyond ordinary listening by immersing the listener in the music and revealing details with unparalleled clarity and depth. The listener feels like they are in the middle of the song as the music moves around and over them. The album's artwork has been redesigned especially for this release and is presented in a digibook with a 16-page booklet, a sticker and a postcard. The cover art still features the iconic pig floating between two chimneys at Battersea Power Station, designed by Roger Waters. However, for this new release, the artwork has been redesigned for the modern day by Storm Thorgerson's Hipgnosis partner Aubrey 'Po' Powell and Peter Curzon of StormStudios, showing the historic building as it looks today, complete with light projections, which are varied in the accompanying booklet. The projections and graphics were designed by Peter Curzon for the launch of Remix 2018 and the photography is by Rupert Truman and Benny Trickett in collaboration with Aubrey Powell. "Animals" is a concept album that focuses on the socio-political conditions of mid-1970s Britain and is a departure from the style of the band's earlier work. The album was developed from a collection of disjointed songs into a concept that describes the apparent social and moral decay of society and compares the condition of humans to that of animals. Taking a cue from George Orwell's Animal Farm, the album depicts the different classes of humans as animals, with the pigs at the top of the social chain, descending to the sheep, who are a mindless herd doing as they are told, while the dogs are the business bosses, cashing in on the money and power they have over the others. Although much time has passed since 1977, the album's narrative still holds true today, as our social and economic situation mirrors that of that time. - Digibook with exclusive new artwork, 16-page booklet, sticker and postcard - Dolby Atmos mix - 5.1 surround mix in 24bit / 96kHz uncompressed and dts-HD MA - Stereo mix in 24bit / 192kHz uncompressed, and dts-HD MA - 1977 Stereo mix in 24bit / 192kHz uncompressed and dts-HD MA - Dolby Atmos, stereo and 5.1 surround mixes by James Guthrie
