Like a journey to the heart of the Age of Enlightenment, this programme explores the various paths followed by French opera of the period while also taking in the cantata and the canon: around selected excerpts from the masterpieces of the great Rameau (Hippolyte & Aricie, Les Indes galantes etc.) we also hear music by Campra (L'Europe galante), Montéclair (his rarely performed Jephté), Gluck (L'Ivrogne corrigé), Dauvergne and Racot de Grandval. An eloquence with multiple facets, presented by the excellent laureates of the sixth edition of ‘Le Jardin des Voix’, which delights and moves in equal measure.
