This compilation brings together cuts by a group of guitar players who pioneered a style of music known as the East Coast or Piedmont Blues. The term was coined by blues scholar Peter B. Lowry, who credits folklorist Bruce Bastin with discovering the style. The Piedmont style grew out of formal 'parlor guitar' techniques as well as banjo playing, string band and the ragtime tradition of the early 20th century. 'East Coast Blues' presents the softer, friendlier side of the blues and gives you a chance to enjoy a selection of fine playing in this often overlooked and under-appreciated style.
