Popis
Nikolai Rimsky-Korssakoff composed this enchanting opera based on a libretto by Nikolai Gogol, in which the handsome blacksmith Vakula wants to marry the rich farmer's daughter Oksana, who in turn demands that he first bring her the Tsarina's shoes. Meanwhile, a witch collects the stars on her broom and the devil steals the moon - demonic forces trying to prevent this romantic union. In Rimsky-Korssakoff's fairy-tale opera, magic and enlightenment enter into a happy union, and the Financial Times called this Frankfurt Opera production "a perfect seasonal tonic."
