The unexpected death of the Spanish star guitarist Paco de Lucia on February 25 shook the music world. A small consolation for his many fans: he left an album, which is now on the market. With "Canciones Andaluzas" (Andalusian Songs), his first studio album in almost ten years, the flamenco great has returned to his roots, as he turns to Andalusian folklore on it, as he did at the very beginning of his fabulous career He recorded eight so-called coplas, poems that have become songs, for the album. The repertoire ranges from sweetly melodic to spirited, always combined with rhythmic and rousing flamenco aspects. In the period of more than a year he has recorded the eight pieces in his home studio, he himself played all the string instruments, plus a few guests on bass, percussion instruments, as well as three singers. "Canciones Andaluzas" makes it painfully clear that with Paco de Lucia the greatest flamenco guitarist of all time has departed forever.
