After recording was completed in late 1971, Deep Purple released Machine Head on March 25, 1972. The band's sixth LP immediately shot to number one in the UK and stayed in the charts for weeks, thanks in part to the singles "Never Before", "Lazy" and "Highway Star". Machine Head was a slower success in the United States, in part because "Smoke on the Water" was not released as a single until May 1973. The song became Purple's most successful US single (landing at #4 on Billboard, as did 1968's "Hush") and pushed its parent album to #7. In all, Machine Head spent more than two years in the American charts, while Deep Purple became hard rock heavyweights known around the world. Decades later, it remains the band's biggest album. 50. Anniversary of the groundbreaking Deep Purple album "Machine Head"
"Machine Head" is one of the most iconic rock albums of all time and contains groundbreaking songs such as "Smoke On The Water", "Highway Star" and "Space Truckin'". The 50th anniversary of "Machine Head" is being celebrated in style with the release of a bespoke deluxe box set featuring a 2024 remix of the entire album by Dweezil Zappa on CD and LP, as well as a 2024 remaster on CD.
The box includes additional live content such as a previously unreleased concert from Montreux 1971 and the live album "In Concert '72". The Blu-ray Audio will include rare 1974 U. S. Quad mixes and three tracks in 5.1 audio from 2012, as well as a brand new Atmos mix of the entire album. The "Machine Head" deluxe box will also include a 60-page book with brand new liner notes, rare photos and images.
